Various Date/Time Tags used in Elements Organizer.

Elements Organizer is very much rich in feature set. While organising your media, dates play a key role. Given this background, Elements Organizer provides numerous date/time fields. But it seems that some users are not clear about their exact definitions and role they play in organizing.

Downloading Photoshop Elements - Latest and Older versions.

The latest Photoshop Elements (PSE) version can be downloaded from official Adobe website which may look something like:

As shown in above snapshot, there are two ways/links available to download PSE. Following are recommended steps:
  1. Please select the correct platfrom from flyout shown.
  2. Primary download link: Click on 'download' button shown adjacent to flyout. This will start PSE download using Akamai Download Manager.
  3. Secondary/Alternate link: If you face any issues with Akamai download manager (Primary download link) then please click on 'Secondary/Alternate link' as shown in snapshot.

If you are facing any issues while downloading the build using above steps OR if you want to download older versions, click here. This will take to an official page of Adobe (so don't worry about virus and all) from where you can download any PSE version as per your requirement.

Note:
Above steps will be helpful for downloading trial build.
But if you have purchased PSE from any other source except adobe.com (like from Amazon or any other retail store) and have lost access to build (but you still have the serial number with you) then no issues. Please download the trial build using above steps and then serialize it with your serial number.

Please comment below if you face any issues while downloading.

How to correct hourglass (generic) thumbnail in Elements Organizer??

In Elements Organizer, when you import media, after sometime the media thumbnails appear correctly. The time lag between importing media and getting thumbnails generated varies depending upon - number of media, file size, file resolution, file location (whether on internal drive or CD/DVD or on network).
But sometimes even after leaving Organizer idle for sometime, Organizer keeps on showing generic thumbnails. There can be two possibilities here:

  • The thumbnails are not available for those particular media (like audio, some video formats or image with higher resolution).
  • There appears to be some issue with thumbnail database in Organizer.

For first case, we can't do anything but if this is the second case (say for a JPEG of 2 MB having resolution 1024x768 thumbnail is not shown) then there is a workaround to resolve this. Please try following steps:

1. In Elements Organizer, click on 'Help->System Info'. Under 'Current Catalog', the catalog location is mentioned adjacent to 'Catalog Location' field as shown below:

2. Quit Organizer. In the catalog folder, you will see a file named 'thumb.5.cache' as shown below:

Rename 'thumb.5.cache' to say 'thumb.5_old.cache'. Relaunch Organizer.

Now Organizer will start generating thumbnails for all the media in your catalog. This process will take time so please be patient. Once Organizer is finished generating thumbnails, your issue (showing generic thumbnails for some media) will be resolved.
Please comment if your issue is not resolved.
